We greatly appreciate our close relationship with, and support from Myeloma Canada. Our members participate in Myeloma Canada initiatives and activities, which support the Myeloma Canada objectives of patient education, advocacy for access to new treatments, research, and public awareness of myeloma.
We also greatly appreciate our close relationship with the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Multiple Myeloma and Related Diseases Program, directed by Dr. Donna Reece. Many of our very knowledgeable guest speakers are from Princess Margaret.

Our History
The Toronto and District Multiple Myeloma Support Group has served the myeloma patient and caregiver community for 20 years. The support group was founded in 1997 by Marion State, a myeloma patient, and also a nurse. It was the first myeloma support group in Canada. Marion was told that she had 3 to 5 years to live. Instead of giving up hope, she used her abundant energy and resolve to help others with this disease. She also provided assistance and motivation to other support groups in Canada.
Due to her strength, and new treatments, Marion survived with myeloma for over 15 years. Her determination to fight this disease lives on, in those whose lives she has touched. The Marion State Nursing Award was created in her honour by Myeloma Canada.
